Purpose of Policy
1. The purpose of this policy is to advise and provide guidance to the Wauzhushk Onigum Foundation Directors (hereinafter called “The Foundation”) in fulfilling the Foundation’s charitable giving activities in compliance with “A Law Respecting the Wauzhushk Onigum Foundation” amended November 15, 2011 and specifically clause # 24 on page 6.
More specifically, this policy will:
1.1. Set out the expectations for, and accountability standards of the Foundation in the administration and allocation of funds.
1.2. Describe criteria and processes for the Foundation to follow in assessing applicants and deciding on the allocation of charitable funds.
1.3. Describe criteria and processes for eligible applicants in accessing Foundation funds including responsibilities in relation to receipt of funds.
1.4. Provide guidance to the Foundation in its reporting requirements to the Wauzhushk Onigum Gaming Commission as required by the “Law Respecting the Wauzhushk Onigum Foundation” and other applicable laws.
1.5. Clarify the roles of Chief and Council and the Foundation in the context of the disbursement of charitable gaming monies provided to the Foundation through the operation of the Golden Eagle Bingo Hall to the Wauzhushk Onigum Community as a whole.
