The following values and priorities which may be updated from time to time by the Foundation Directors, will guide the Foundation Directors in its funding decisions, especially in consideration of situations where funding is limited funding and demand for funding is high:

Individual Assistance

High Priority

  • Recommendations of Social Services

  • First time request

  • Health and safety concern

Low Priority

  • Recurring request

  • Past abuse of funds

Education Assistance

High Priority

  • Low income family

  • Will result in non-enrolment if not funded

  • Education Services recommended

Low Priority

  • Alternative available

  • Non-urgent, can be considered at a future date

Medical Assistance

  • Recommendation of Health Services

  • Reimbursement to Foundation

  • Health concern if not addressed

Sports and Recreation – Youth

High Priority

  • Family Income Level (lower income, higher priority)

  • No other funds to access

  • First time request

Low Priority

  • Alternative available

  • Previously funded

Sports and Recreation – Adult

High Priority

  • Exclusive WOF membership

  • First time funding

  • Fundraised amount confirmed
  • Significant amount fundraised

Low Priority

  • Not exclusive WOF membership

  • Previously funded

  • No or minimal fundraising effort

Projects and Events

High Priority

  • Innovative and Creative solutions to addressing community issues

  • Risk of losing other funds if not funded

  • Invests in the future of WOF children and youth

  • Membership targets

  • Impact and benefit on community members

  • Volunteer contributions

  • Partnerships evident

  • Fundraising effort

Low Priority

  • Strain on Foundation funds

  • Dependency on Foundation funds

  • Project can still go ahead without Foundation funds
