Foundation Communications, Transparency and Accountability

54. In order to provide the Wauzhushk Onigum Nation community with information regarding the operation of the Foundation, the Foundation will regularly communicate with the Wauzhushk Onigum Nation community to ensure:

54.1. the community and membership of Wauzhushk Onigum Nation knows the role of the Foundation and how it benefits the community;

54.2. eligible applicants have a clear understanding of the process of applying for Foundation funds and fundable activities; and

54.3. individuals and groups understand the high demand and limitation of financial resources.

55. The Foundation will carry-out the goals as set out in section 55 of this policy by:

55.1. producing and distributing Funding Guidelines that clearly identify fundable and non-fundable items/activities;

55.2. the Foundation reserves the right to announce recipient names, funded activity and amount of assistance as it is permitted under our legislative regulations;

55.3. including the following statement within funding guidelines

“Due to high demand for funds and limited financial resources Wauzhushk Onigum Foundation is unable to support all projects, no matter how worthy.  Meeting the funding criteria does not in itself guarantee approval for Foundation funds.”

56.4 produce an Annual Report for submission to the Wauzhushk Onigum Gaming Commission and review and approval by Chief and Council, with a distribution to membership upon such approval.

56.5 The Annual Report set out in section 56.4 of this policy will include:

56.5.1 Funds Received and allocated;

56.5.2 The Distribution of Funds according to:

a) Relief of Poverty;

b) Advancement of Education;

c) Advancement of Culture and Heritage; and

d) Other Purposes Beneficial to the Community;

 

56.5.3 Applicants and Projects Funded;

56.5.4 Annual Highlights;

56.5.5 Annual Challenges; and

56.5.6 Future Year Recommendations.

56.6 It is the right of the Foundation to if so desired, to publish names, reasons and number of requests granted for assistance.  (Amount of individual assistance will not be published).
